Moab BASE Association is run by a collective of local BASE jumpers with the goal to be a centralized point for information sharing regarding Moab specific BASE jumping and to promote BASE jumping ethics which will allow BASE to continue to be allowed in Moab. Since 2020 The Moab BASE Association has taken over hosting the infamous Turkey Boogie Fundraiser, which raises tens of thousands of dollars each year and donated to local Search and Rescue, Emergency Medical Services, Bureau of Land Management and other local non-profits. Moab BASE association is an official non profit 501(c)(3) organization and all donations are tax deductible, tax identification number 84-5128318.

Meet the Locals and Board Members

  • Taz

    DIRECTOR

Taz was born in Paris, where she was raised by a family of culinary artists, painters, and musicians. After a life in London, and recovering from her dream of running away with the circus as bulldozers razed the last remnants of Coney Island’s freak shows, she somehow landed in Moab. She logged several hundred slider down jumps in her backyard and across the USA before becoming obsessed with learning to fly. Her regular travels now see her visiting cliffs, buildings, and ever more wingsuit BASE exits around the world.

I’m always happy to help and answer questions. If you see me around say hi! But not before you feed me some snacks!

  • Britt Zale

    SECRETARY

Britt grew up in the suburbs of Buffalo, NY and moved to Washington, DC to study and pursue a career. Sick of sitting at a desk while day-dreaming about running ultramarathons, she visited Moab in 2017 and like many before her, became addicted to crack (climbing). She began skydiving in 2018 and BASE jumping a year later. Now, she climbs and jumps all day, most days and you can find her at night working at the Desert Bistro. Her advice for learning to BASE jump in Moab is to enjoy all the adventures to new exits, but choose one cliff to make home and lap regularly to improve on the basics and work on new skills.

  • Ryan "Gravy" Katchmar

    TREASURER

“I have lots of skydives and base jumps. Bring a laser, break cord, and water. Hit me up for beta!”

  • Matt “Laj” Lajeunesse

Since he started coming to Moab he has accumulated a bunch of jumps, organized many projects, been kicked out of many bars, been on many rescues, founded the turkey boogie fundraiser, participated in one full nude man-verse-man wrestling match, created almost as much trouble as he has done good, and laid the foundation for BASE jumpers working with the city of Moab to keep our community in good graces.

If you have questions about BASE jumping in Moab, preparing to jump in Moab, or want to feel better about your life choices, Laj is a good person to talk to.

  • Jon Sizzle

Jon is a veteran, a gravity connoisseur, a mountain lover and an emergency nurse at Moab Regional Hospital.

  • Scott “Plamer” Palmer

Plamer is one of the most talented free-flyers in our sport, and is one of the foremost educators and competitors in tunnel and freeflying. Plamer's skill in the skydive environment translates naturally to his wingsuit BASE flying, and he is a classic example of how being a better skydiver can (potentially) make you a better BASE jumper.

  • Jimmy Peterson

Been living and jumping in Moab now for 10 years now. In that time I’ve done 1000+ BASE jumps. I’ve done 250+ different exits and opened quite a few of those. 930 ish slider down jumps and 80+ slider up jumps.

  • Adam "Krum"

Krum is almost a mythical figure of the Moab BASE community, hiss charter would fit in in the pages of an Edward Abby novel. Krum has hosted countless transient jumpers and dirt bags, letting them sleep on his couch, pack on his floor or just use his shower. His door is always open to friends and he has welcomed more jumpers into the community in one way or another than most. Also if you ate a Hersey’s bar before 2012 Krum had a hand in it... Literally he used to work at the factory.

  • Kali Turner

Kali was born and raised in Tampa, FL. Needing to explore the world, she decided to join the US Army in search of something outside of what she knew. Spending a couple of years in Germany. then making her way back to California, she found the world of BASE in 2015. Now you can either find her fixing wind turbines all over the US, or on her off times chasing good weather for climbing or jumping all over the world. Something that she values the most in this sport is the people that you get to meet and connect with. The chosen families can be some of the most beautiful families.

  • Joe Lohmuller "Moab Joe"

“I was born and raised in St. Louis Missouri. In college i discovered a passion for climbing, camping, and being outdoors. After dropping out I moved to Vail, Colorado and spent 3 years operating lifts, bussing tables, and skiing. In 2015 I decided to chase my dream of flying. I got my skydive liscene in 2016 at Skydive Moab and began to work there as a packer in 2017. I have lived in Moab ever since. To date i have accumulated over 4500 skydives and 800 base jumps. Wing-suiting is my preferred discipline in both sky and base. Lets go jump!”

  • Glen Maxson

When Glen watched his best friend BASE jump from the summit of Ancient Art, land to the applause of hikers, and leave him to rappel down like a peasant, he was determined to learn this dark art. Now he works his shifts as a paramedic in Colorado. Whether its static lines, climb to jumps, or wingsuits Glen loves it all. As long as it's with good people, who have a shared love of the mountains, desert, and adventure.

  • Brittany Cantwell

After graduating nursing school in Montana and a season guiding in Alaska, Britany found her way to Moab. This is where she saw her first BASE jump and Moab had her hooked. Before becoming a jumper, she ground crewed for 3 years watching and learning…She even set the world record for walking off of Tombstone at over 100 times! Now she is living the dream, sneaking in BASE jumps before shifts as a nurse at Moab Regional Hospital. If you break your femur there is a good chance you will meet her!…. but let’s not do that!
